I’m a strong believer in the yin yang theory – that we need both high and low energy in our lives. That’s why I do two kind of exercises on a regular basis. Running for the intensive high-energy one, and yoga to get more flexible and calm down.
It’s common to look at experienced yoga practitioners and think; “I could never do this”. But yoga truly is for everyone. There’s also several forms of yoga, in which you can find the ones that works for you. It can be a really heavy strength and cardio practice, or my personal favourite; more like stretching.
I tend to do a little bit of yoga in the morning to wake up my body, and at night to calm down and get centred before sleep.
After about 2-3 years of practicing yoga occasionally, I wanted to step it up and invest in my own mat. I’ve tried a lot of different ones, both in studios and when staying with friends, and i’ve definitely seen a huge difference in quality. It’s important to me that the mat is not too slippery, as it can be quiet annoying to stand in downward facing dog and slide around as if you were standing on ice. But its also annoying when the mat is too sticky and my foot hangs on to the mat when I’m trying to stretch it out. That’s why I wanted to come with a little recommendation to you guys.
Scoria is a small team of creatives who have made the cutest mats with the best intentions. I find their mats very unique because when you get sweaty, or if you gently water the mat, you get the perfect grip. While if you don’t do anything with it, its perfect for a stretching-flow.
The brand is also so beautiful because they’re a partner of Feeding Children Everywhere, so that with every single purchase they provide 6 meals to a hungry child. The mats are made of 100% natural & biodegradable cork, with no use of latex or glue, so they’re super good for the environment as well.
Huge yay to beautiful people like these, making the world a better place!
(I want to be real and truuuue with you when it comes to ads and sponsorships etc. I got this mat for free, but was never asked to write anything about them – so this is my honest opinion and written solely for the sake of promoting a good cause and a product I love! :-))
